Türkiye is ready to work closely with Egypt to promote sustainable coastal development and tackle environmental challenges, Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen said on Sunday. Speaking at the 10th Builders of Egypt Forum, Şen said joint plans and stronger cooperation have become essential as both countries face the mounting impacts of climate change. Türkiye attaches great importance to addressing environmental challenges, especially in coastal areas, and are working on flexible, data-driven solutions with Egypt, he said. The ambassador highlighted Turkey's progress in building sustainable cities, particularly in tourist regions, through modern infrastructure and the use of advanced technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He said these tools have helped integrate environmental considerations into urban planning. Şen also pointed to the financial dimension of coastal development, noting that Turkey relies on a mix of central and local funding, private sector support, and European financing. Türkiye is seeking additional resources to further upgrade coastal infrastructure, he added. Türkiye has introduced an effective governance model for coastal tourism, with its Sustainable Tourism initiative covering over 20,000 hotels. Şen said Ankara is keen to expand cooperation with Egypt in this field, describing it as more urgent than ever. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
