The Medium, Small, and Micro Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) has invested 17.4 billion Egyptian pounds in women-led projects over the past decade, resulting in the creation of approximately 1.2 million jobs, according to CEO Basil Rahmi. Rahmi, speaking at the Women in MLE conference, said the agency financed around 900,000 small and micro projects run by women across Egypt, with 54 per cent of the funds—around 9.4 billion pounds—directed to Upper Egypt, border governorates, and the most underserved areas. He confirmed plans to double these allocations in the coming period to expand women's economic participation in line with government priorities. The agency has activated all its financial and technical services to enhance women's capabilities across various sectors and is working closely with institutions, civil society, and development partners to support the establishment and growth of small and medium enterprises led by women.
