Egypt's National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) head Tarek El-Houby emphasised the role of international cooperation and knowledge-sharing in leveraging digital tools to improve food safety and consumer protection, as per a Cabinet statement. During his participation in the Vienna Food Safety Conference, held under the theme The Potential of Digitalisation, he highlighted Egypt's progress in modernising its food safety system, particularly through digital transformation. He outlined recent NFSA initiatives aimed at strengthening electronic tracking and monitoring across the food supply chain, while improving transparency and rapid risk response, the statement added. The conference discussions also covered the use of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and blockchain in bolstering monitoring systems and decision-making during food emergencies, as per the announcement. Egypt's participation supports NFSA's strategy to deepen global engagement, build strong international partnerships, and apply successful global practices in digital food safety systems, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 for sustainable food security.
