Most stocks in the Asia-Pacific region rose following the announcement by China's central bank and financial regulators of extensive measures to reduce key interest rates in order to support growth amid trade concerns. The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong increased by 0.5 per cent, and mainland China's CSI 300 rose by 0.61 per cent to end the day at 3,831.63. Japan's Nikkei 225 index decreased by 0.14 per cent to end the day at 36,779.66, while the Topix index increased by 0.31 per cnet to close at 2,696.16. In South Korea, the Kospi index rose by 0.55 per cent to finish at 2,573.8, while the Kosdaq index, which focuses on small-cap stocks, declined by 0.13 per cent to close at 722.81.
