Asia-Pacific markets experienced a mix of results on Monday following a week of turbulent trading globally. Japan's Nikkei 225 index was the top performer in Asia, increasing by 0.38 per cent in volatile trading to finish the day at 37,028. On the other hand, the broader Topix index decreased by 0.29 per cent to end at 2,700, reducing earlier gains. Cash earnings in the country grew by 2.8 per cent year-on-year in January, a slowdown from the revised 4.4 per cent increase in December. South Korea's Kospi increased by 0.27 per cent to close at 2,570, while the Kosdaq, a small-cap index, decreased by 0.26 per cent to 725. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index rose by 0.18 per cent to finish the day at 7,962, following a six-month high in the previous session.
