President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia Urška Klakočar Zupančič in Cairo on Thursday, where he outlined Egypt's efforts to restore a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, secure the exchange of hostages and detainees, and ensure the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to ease the humanitarian crisis in the enclave. The Slovenian official expressed her country's support for Egypt's position, and affirmed Slovenia's rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land. President Sisi praised Slovenia's supportive stance on Palestinian rights, especially its recognition of the State of Palestine. He reiterated that the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantee for lasting peace and stability in the region. Zupančič hailed Egypt's central role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and reaffirmed her country's keenness to enhance consultation and coordination with Egypt at all levels and in international forums on issues of mutual concern. President Sisi also commended the recent positive developments in bilateral relations, underlining the key role of parliamentary institutions in both countries in strengthening cooperation, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment fields — contributing to stronger ties between the two friendly peoples.
