Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met with the CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores Doug Herrington to explore opportunities for expanding Amazon's operations in Egypt and strengthening cooperation in the digital trade sector, as per a Cabinet statement. Herrington expressed his deep appreciation for the ongoing support provided by the Egyptian government, highlighting key milestones in their partnership, including the opening of the fulfilment centre in 10th of Ramadan City and the launch of the largest customer service centre in the region. "We are working to empower thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises through our digital platform, and we hope to continue collaborating with the government to ease procedures and encourage more local businesses to join the digital economy," Herrington said. Investment Minister Hassan El Khatib, who attended the discussion, reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting electronic commerce and said the ministry would review Amazon's proposals to further its investments in Egypt. He added that cooperation with Amazon could also support financial inclusion by encouraging more companies and individuals to engage in digital trade. Prime Minister Madbouly confirmed Egypt's willingness to deepen collaboration with Amazon, noting that digital trade plays a key role in advancing financial inclusion. He concluded the meeting by reaffirming the government's continued support for Amazon's presence in the Egyptian market and its readiness to discuss any proposals to expand the company's investments.
