Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met with Hans Olav Raen, CEO of Norway's Yara Clean Ammonia (YCA), on Tuesday to explore ways to strengthen collaboration in green hydrogen and renewable energy production.
The meeting, took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos attended by Egypt's Planning Minister Rania Al-Mashat, and Investment Minister Hassan El-Khatib, highlighted Egypt's growing focus on renewable energy to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions.
Prime Minister Madbouly lauded the ongoing partnership with Yara Clean Ammonia, emphasising Egypt's commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity to support green hydrogen projects. Renewable energy is the investment of the future, he stated, urging intensified cooperation to address global climate challenges.
Hans praised Egypt's strategic efforts in renewable energy, referencing the positive outcomes of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's recent visit to Norway, where several bilateral agreements were signed. He reaffirmed Yara's long-term commitment to working with Egypt, expressing plans to visit the country soon to advance discussions on green hydrogen and ammonia production.
Yara representatives also presented their plans for producing fertilisers and urea, expressing a keen interest in partnering with Egypt to bolster agricultural and energy sustainability.
Minister Al-Mashat highlighted the European Union's incentives for green hydrogen projects, reinforcing the strategic importance of the partnership. Investment Minister El-Khatib expressed optimism about future collaborations, underscoring Egypt's role as a regional leader in renewable energy initiatives.
