Egypt secured the presidency of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) for the next two years, according to a report published by the Ministry of Trade and Industry on Sunday. Khaled Soufi, Chairman of the Egyptian Organisation for Standardisation & Quality (EOS), was elected to the position, making him the first Egyptian and Arab to lead the organisation since its founding in 1947. Soufi highlighted that winning the ISO presidency is a significant acknowledgment of Egypt's efforts to strengthen its leadership and to actively contribute to shaping international policies and strategies. He thanked Kamel Al-Wazir, deputy prime minister for industrial development and minister of industry and transport, for his unwavering support to the EOS, which was instrumental in Egypt's achievement of this prestigious position. Soufi also extended his gratitude and appreciation to all Arab, African, and friendly nations around, as well as to the Arab Industrial Development, Standardisation & Mining Organisation (AIDMO) for its contribution.
