CAIRO - The Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organisation (AIDMO), in collaboration with Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO), will organise the Sixth International Arab Conference for Information Technology and its accompanying Exhibition from October 29 to 31 in Rabat. "This forum is one of a series of conferences convened by AIDMO to keep abreast of information developments and the modernisation of communication technology," said AIDMO Director-General Mohamed Bin Youssef. He added that developments in information and the modernisation of communication technology will have a direct impact on industry, boosting development. Under the slogan ‘Information technology: the way to keep up with developments and innovation', concerned ministers of industry and information and information technology, as well as Arab experts, scientists and personalities working in the information sector, along with international workers in the field of information technology and networks, are expected to attend the conference. "Raising the quality of communication will lead to speedier access to the markets and help increase exports," explained Bin Youssef, pointing out rapid spread of modern technology will help integration into the global market. The Director-General also explained the conference will tackle safety, continuity and confidence in electronic transactions, the virtual environment and its applications. "To build information systems and software phones, clarifying their role in spreading knowledge and environmental work, as well as their importance in linking the various institutions and systems, are also vital," he stressed. An information technology exhibition will be held on the sidelines of the conference, showcasing state-of-the-art machinery, equipment and programmes. Bin Youssef expresses his hopes that the conference will achieve what it aims to do by promoting the latest technology used to develop Arab industrial products, upgrading them to the rank of global products. The conference will also discuss computing and information technology as it relates to the environment. "We hope that the conference achieves the desired development and contributes to the creation of new jobs, thereby helping to cut unemployment and reduce poverty," he emphasised.
