CAIRO - In order to discuss and find practical solutions to a number of important industrial issues, the Arab Organisation for Industrial Development and Mining (AIDMO), in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, is organising the Arab-Turkish Industrial Co-operation Conference in Istanbul, Turkey. "This two-day industrial and economic conference comes at a critical time for the international economy," says Ambassador Mohamed Ben Youssef, the General Director of AIDMO. He points out that a number of Arab ministers and international leaders, as well as international and regional organisations and prominent economists, will participate in the event on December 6 and 7. Ben Youssef stresses that Arab-Turkish co-operation is vital in the Arab world of today. "Arab-Turkish co-operation is especially necessary in the industrial and economic sectors," he explains, adding that the conference will also tackle the expansion of power projects between Turkey and some Arab countries. "Co-operation between Turkey and some Arab countries in the electricity sector is helping to boost economic and industrial co-operation in many fields," he says. The conference, which will be held under the auspices of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan, will also be a good opportunity for Arab and Turkish investors to expand their horizons of co-operation and to exchange their industrial experience. Last September, Erdogan paid a three-day visit to Egypt at the start of a North African tour that also included Libya and Tunisia. The purpose of his tour was to boost Turkey's standing in the region, following the Arab Spring uprisings.
