Egypt's Deputy PM for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El Wazir on Wednesday announced immediate actions to address problems faced by investors in Robbiki Leather City, northeast Cairo. Key measures include the provision of means of transport for workers, the establishment of automated slaughterhouses to minimise leather waste, development of a technology centre for worker training and technical support, and resolving tannery owner issues. Environmental standards will also be strictly adhered to in the city's industrial waste disposal processes. Robbiki Leather City, located on 506 acres, is developed in three phases. The first phase spans 176 acres and houses 216 units dedicated to leather tanning and storage, allocated to 192 investors in compensation for their tanneries in Magra El-Oyoun, Old Cairo. The second phase, covering 109 acres, includes glue factories and hangars with a total of 159 units, 141 of which are also as compensatory allocations. The third phase encompasses 221 acres, featuring a 100-hangar area for leather manufacturing, alongside a treatment plant and an industrial wastewater system.
