The Egyptian government allocated EGP 7.7 billion in public investments to Dakahlia Governorate for the 2023–2024 fiscal year, marking a 10 per cent increase from the previous year. Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said announced on Thursday that these funds will support 525 development projects across various sectors. Key allocations include EGP 1.9 billion for the transport sector, EGP 1.6 billion for higher education, EGP 1 billion for housing, EGP 818 million for local development, and EGP 771 million for pre-university education. Additional investments of EGP 1.7 billion will target other sectors, excluding those under Hayah Kareema initiative. Hayah Kareema initiative will benefit 26 villages in Dakahlia, impacting 380,000 residents. Projects include residential buildings, social units, agricultural service complexes, health units, schools, water stations, sanitation projects, and infrastructure improvements. The plan also outlines 79 housing development projects, with EGP 419.6 million dedicated to water and sanitation services, and 278 local development projects, including EGP 469 million for road paving.
