Egypt allots EGP 82.7b for Giza development in '24

Egypt is directing investments worth EGP 82.7 billion towards the Giza governorate as part of its 2023–2024 development plan, which includes the implementation of 586 developmental projects, announced Dr Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, as per the Egyptian Cabinet statement.
The value of public investments directed to the Giza governorate in 2023–2024 has seen an increase of 8.8 per cent compared to the 2022–2023 plan.
Regarding the sectoral distribution of targeted public investments in the Giza governorate in the 2023–2024 plan, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development's report pointed to directing investments worth EGP 35 billion to the transport sector, accounting for 42 per cent. This is followed by the housing sector, with EGP 32 billion accounting for 39 per cent.
Investments in the higher education sector amount to EGP 5.6 billion, accounting for 7 per cent, while the antiquities sector is allocated EGP 2.5 billion, accounting for 3 per cent.
Pre-university education is allocated EGP 464.8 million, accounting for 1 per cent. Other sectors are allocated investments worth EGP 6.9 billion, accounting for 8 per cent. This is in addition to the projects directed through Hayah Kareema Egyptian rural development project.
