Five people in different parts of the country reportedly succumbed to the H1N1 virus, commonly known as "swine flu," on Thursday. The first fatality was that of 22-year-old Mushira Abdel Wahab from the Upper Egyptian city of Beni Sueif. According to Amr Qandil, head of preventive medicine department at the Health Ministry, Abdel Wahab--who was in the advanced stages of pregnancy--had already been suffering heart complications. Four other fatalities were reported on the same day in four different cities, bringing the total death toll in Egypt to 39.
