Second autopsy ordered for Alexandria police victim
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 16 - 06 - 2010

Attorney general Abdel Meguid Mahmoud has ordered a second autopsy for the body of alleged torture victim Khaled Saeed.
Mahmoud's decision came in response to the request of a three-person commission of medical examiners.
Investigations revealed injuries on the victim's neck which were said to have been incurred when police attempted to retrieve a marijuana roll from his throat. Medical examiners also said Saeed might have choked due to pressure on his neck while the roll was in his mouth.
The victim's mother, according to investigations, revised statements she made accusing two officers of killing her son and stating that her son used to take drugs.
The victim's brother said he has a video of Khaled's corpse before it was examined medically, which reveals all the injuries to his body.
In related news, the April 6 movement is writing to President Hosni Mubarak and Habib el-Adli, minister of interior affairs, asking them to reveal who was responsible for the killing.
Asmaa Mahfouz, media coordinator for the movement, said a number of members have translated accounts of the incident into seven languages and sent them to the United States and some European countries.
Some members of the National Democratic Party (NDP) refused any discussion of the case yesterday in parliament. People's Assembly Speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour said the case cannot be discussed before investigations are over.
