In its latest monthly report, Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center reported a handful of new economic figures. The report notes that the number of government-created job opportunities fell by 14.9 percent in March of this year compared to March 2009. Job opportunities created by the state-run Social Fund fell by 28.6 percent for the same period, while those created by the Local Development Fund fell by 72.6 percent. Employment opportunities created by the private sector, meanwhile, recorded a 35-percent rise. The report also notes that state-funded medical treatment had decreased by 53.7 percent for the same period. Railway traffic revenue rose by LE2.2 million, meanwhile, and cargo revenues rose by 23.1 percent. The report goes on to note that the issuance of private truck, bus and car licenses had risen 8 percent, while taxi licenses registered a 2.5-percent decrease. Land-line telephone subscriptions fell by 7.8 percent, compared to a 29.9-percent rise in mobile phone subscriptions. Internet subscriptions rose by 22.2 percent for the same period. Local electricity production and consumption, meanwhile, increased by 7.8 and 5 percent respectively, while crude oil and butane gas production fell by 4.9 percent.
