Egypt's Illicit Gains Authority (IGA) has requested that the relevant legal bodies investigate wealth accumulated by former government ministers and National Democratic party (NDP) officials, including the following former ministers:
Interior Minister Habib al-Adly; Finance Minister Youssef Boutros-Ghali; Trade and Industry Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid; Minister of State for Administrative Development Ahmed Darwish; Housing Minister Ahmed al-Maghraby; Tourism Minister Zoheir Garrana; Agriculture Minister Amin Abaza; Local Development Minister Othman Mohamed Othman; Local Administration Minister Abdel Salam al-Mahgoub; Endowments Minister Hamdy Zaqzouq; Health Minister Hatem al-gabaly; Education Minister Ahmed Zaki Badr; Culture Minister Farouk Hosni; and Transportation Minister Alaa Fahmy.
The list also includes the following former NDP officials:
NDP Secretary-General Safwat al-Sherif; Presidential Chief-of-Staff Zakaria Azmi; Organization Secretary Ahmed Ezz; Media Secretary Ali Eddin Helal; Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mufid Shehab; and Gamal Mubarak, former head of the party's influential Policies Secretariat and son of ousted president Hosni Mubarak.
All those mentioned above have been charged with profiteering.
The IGA has also requested an investigation into wealth accumulated by former chief editors of state-run newspapers, including Mohamed Ali Ibrahim of Al-Gomhouria; Momtaz al-Qut of Al-Akhbar; Ossama Saraya of Al-Ahram; and Abdallah Kamal of Rose al-Youssef.
The IGA has received more than 500 complaints against the above-mentioned former officials in which they are accused of having illegally accumulated vast amounts of money.
