Disparate political opposition movements on Monday called for a protest over fraud in Sunday's parliamentary poll. Vote counting continues but the ruling National Democratic Party is expected to win in landslide fashion. The rally is set for Monday evening in front of the Journalists Syndicate, the organizers said. Protesters will mourn Egyptian democracy, considered derelict by many opposition figures, as well as the death of several voters during the poll. The coalition is led by The Press Syndicate's Freedoms Committee, the 6 April Youth Movement and the Popular Free Front, in addition to a number of Muslim Brotherhood candidates who lost their races on Sunday. Human rights organizations that observed the elections said the voting process was marred by numerous violations, including rigging, electoral fraud, violence, and prevention from ballot boxes. Egyptian news reports said at least 5 people were killed in election related violence. Translated from the Arabic Edition.
