The Doctors Syndicate's emergency general assembly has welcomed the Egyptian authorities' approval to allow the first group of doctors to enter Rafah crossing in preparation for entering the Gaza Strip. During the meeting of the General Assembly, head of the syndicate Hamdi Al-Sayyed said a large number of doctors have applied to go to Gaza to treat the Palestinian injured. They wrote reports that they are responsible for their personal safety. Al-Sayyed described the situation in Gaza as an impasse, warning Israel to target the Egyptian doctors. The General Assembly called for condemning the aggression, supporting the resistance, opening Rafah crossing permanently, condemning the targeting of doctors in Gaza, providing a safe way so that aid could reach Gaza and expelling the Israeli ambassador from Cairo. Al-Sayyed urged a number of doctors to form a delegation from the syndicate to visit Venezuela to thank President Hugo Chavez for expelling the Israeli ambassador from his country.
Doctors had placed a large Israeli flag in front of the syndicate's gate so that the participants in the general assembly would walk on it.
