Prominent businessman Muhammad Shafik Gabr, owner of the Artoc Auto car dealership, was fined LE50,000 for failing to repair a customer's car free of charge even though the vehicle -- a Skoda Octavia -- was still under warrantee. The engineering department at Cairo's Ain-Shams University proved the existence of serious manufacturing flaws in the clutch, tires and windows of the car. Gabr was fined an additional LE20,000 for refusing to refund a second customer who had recently purchased a Skoda Roomster, only to find that it, too, was riddled with manufacturing flaws.
