CAIRO - Yesterday Egypt's Al-Azhar, the oldest and highest seat of Sunni Islamic learning, vehemently condemned the terror attack outside the British Houses of Parliament in Westminster, which left four dead, including attacker and police officer and approximately 40 other people injured. It has also been confirmed that several people are still being treated for serious injuries, including two police officers, the British daily newspaper, the Guardian reported. In a Wednesday evening press statement, Al-Azhar spokesperson stated that terrorizing and shedding the blood of innocent people are acts that all divinely-revealed laws, values, human principles and international laws have explicitly prohibited. Al-Azhar extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families of the victims and to the people of Britain at large, reiterating its calls for much-needed concerted efforts and international collaboration so as to work out a solid, global strategy to counter the scourge of terrorism which has become a growing menace to world as a whole.
