Endowments Ministry senior official Saad Al-Fekky announced that the ministry has confiscated 375 religious books by authors related to Muslim Brotherhood (MB) believed to promote extremism and violence, Youm7 reported. Al-Fekky added that the small libraries of mosques, which rely on books donated by the public, pose a threat for promoting jihadist thought, unlike mosques with large libraries that are subject to regular monitoring. He noted that the confiscated books included works of former MB leader Sayyed Qutb, and pro-Muslim Brotherhood preacher Youssef Al-Qaradawy, who resides in Qatar. The endowments official asserted all the preachers and imams are obligated to deliver the unified Friday sermon determined by the ministry every week. In November 2014, the ministry decided to unify the topic of all Friday sermons in all Egyptian mosques nationwide. The ministry publishes the sermon topic on its official website for preachers to follow.
