Minister of Supply, Khaled Hanafy vowed Monday in a press conference, to eliminate monopoly of goods in the Egyptian market, Al Bawaba News reported. Hanafy revealed that the ministry signed contracts to import 800 thousand heads of cattle to provide fresh meat in the market, clarifying that the price of meat is now EGP 50 pounds per kilo in the outlets supported by the ministry. He said that his ministry is currently taking action to supply corn in affordable prices. He pointed out that the government is now firmly back into the market and will not allow any kind of monopolies of goods. The minister explained that his ministry established an integrated family meal at a price of no more than EGP 30 pounds and it is located in 70% of the consumer outlets nationwide, adding that the meal will be distributed in all consumer outlets later this month.
