The Arab coalition forces and their national Yemeni allies will be able to liberate Taiz from the coup insurgents in just two weeks, a senior Yemeni military commander was quoted on Tuesday as saying. Major-General Nassir Al Tahiri, deputy chief of staff of the legitimate Yemeni armed forces, said the national resistance has succeeded in breaking into enemy lines and opening loopholes for the coalition and the army to send reinforcements for the final offensive against the Iranian-backed Houthis and their allies. "The operation to liberate Taiz will not last more than 14 days...it has already started," he told the London-based Saudi daily Asharqalawsat. He said a new army brigade has been forced in Sanaa to support an upcoming campaign by the coalition and the army to seize the capital, the main stronghold of the Houthis and forces loyal to deposed President Ali Abdullah Saleh. "We have also forced four new brigades following the liberation of Aden...other brigades have been backed up in other areas...there is a strategy to reshape and rehabilitate the army after the liberation," he said.
