Iraq's foreign minister, Ibrahim al-Jaafari left Cairo Monday morning, after participating in 144th session of Arab League summit, Al Bawaba News reported. The meeting was at Arab foreign ministers level and it was held at Cairo University on Sunday. The council discussed several topics of common interests to all Arab nations, including political, economic and social issues, as well as followed up on the implementation of decisions reached in the previous session. Arab foreign ministers tackled the Palestinian issue and the latest developments in the Arab-Israeli conflict. They also discussed the efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis, which has left many refugees displaced, in the presence of UN's Special Envoy to Syria, Staffan De Mistura. Also, the ministers focused on the situation in Libya, Iraq and Yemen while discussing solidarity with Lebanon and Sudan, as well as the situation in Somalia and Comoros. They also concentrated on the Iranian occupation of the three UAE Arab islands, international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, disarmament and ridding the Middle East of nuclear weapons, in addition to weapons of mass destruction.
