United Nations (UN) diplomats said Tuesday that the International organization estimated that the cost of achieving the objectives of the plan to fight the world poverty will be $3.5 billion dollars a year, Al Bawaba News reported. On Sunday, the 193 member states of the UN approved a plan to fight poverty in the world within 15 years. Kenya's ambassador to the UN Macharia Kamau, who headed the negotiations that led to the approval of the plan said that the costs will be between $3.5 and 5 billion dollars per year, describing them as "astronomical". "But let's understand what it is that we are trying to do here. We are engaged in an agenda that seeks to address economic, social and environmental transformation," Kamau said. The UN plan entitled "Transforming our world: the agenda of the 2030 Sustainable Development" aims to end poverty in the world and establish a decent life for all without exclusion.
