Sonic bomb explodes in metro station, 16 injured

A sonic bomb went off in Helmiyet el-Zietoun metro station, on Thursday morning leaving at least 16 passengers injured due to jostling in the station concourse.
Ministry of Health confirmed that five ambulances were directed to the station to transfer the injured after they were struck by states of panic and anxiety.
The injured passengers were transferred to public hospitals to receive the required treatment.
Subway movement stopped on the Marg-Helwan line due to the blast, said security sources, adding that the exploded device was a sonic bomb and explained that injuries occurred when passengers stampeded away from the blast's scene.
