Health Ministry emergency chief, Khaled Weshahy said Monday that two people were killed in an attack on a military checkpoint in North Sinai's Arish city, Youm7 News reported. Weshahy added that that 10 people were wounded in the attack, pointing out that they were transferred to Arish Hospital for treatment. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against terrorist groups in Sinai after they claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel.
