The under-construction Egyptian Secular Party called for demolishing the article concerning the contempt of religion from Egyptian law over the recent verdict against religious researcher Islam Al Beheiry who was sentenced to five years in prison for contempt of religion. The party said that extreme Islamist groups use that article to fight any opposition thought, eliminating any alternative ideology of fundamentalist thought. Secretary of the party, Hesham Ouf asserted that his party's main goal is to face the extremist waves plaguing the Middle East.
