Anonymous armed elements opened fire early on Friday on a police station in the Upper Egypt province of Al-Fayoum, south of the capital city of Cairo, security sources told Al-Bawaba News. The assailants, riding on motorcycles, shot security forces outside the Abshaway police station with no injuries reported, the sources added. Police forces backed by terror-combating squads have swept the whole area in pursuit of the assailants. Terrorist drive-by shootings against police personnel guarding vital institutions have been repeatedly committed over the past two years after the Muslim Brotherhood rule in Egypt was ousted July 2013 amid mass street protests.
