Egyptians are poking fun at the now famous crude restoration of Tutankhamun's beard, posting funny images and jokes on the internet to express their anger at the incident with humor. Facebook pages posted caricatures of the damaged golden mask and its crude reparation, expressing their anger and sarcasm at the poor treatment given to such an invaluable ancient Egyptian artifact. On January 24, the minister of Antiquities, Mamdouh Al Damaty had confirmed, in a press conference held at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, that not only had the mask been damaged but that "Epoxy" had indeed been used to repair it, a type of glue seldom if ever used in restoration. Tutankhamun's golden mask is considered one of the greatest Ancient Egyptian treasures. It was discovered in 1922 by English Archeologist, Howard Carter.
