Google search engine celebrates Sunday the 89th birth anniversary of the legendary Egyptian director, Youssef Chahine by putting his image on its home page as a "Doodle", which allows the user to know information about him. Chahine was born on 25 January 1926, and died on 27 July 2008, at age of 82. He travelled to Hollywood to study acting, but after he returned to Egypt, Chahine focused on directing. He directed his first movie "Baba Amin" in 1950, then he directed 42 movies including "Saydat al Ketaar" (Lady of the Train), "Sira` Fi al-Wadi" (Struggle in the Valley), "Al Nasser Salah Ad-Din" (Salladin the Victorious), Al-Massir "The Destiny", and "Heya Fawda..?" (Is This Chaos..?). He also acted in many movies such as "Bab al-Hadid" (The Iron Gate) and "Iskandariyah Kaman wa Kaman" (Alexandria Again and Again). Chahine was honored with many awards including Golden Tanit at the 1970 Carthage Film Festival, and lifetime achievement award at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.
