In a lengthy meeting with state owned newspapers, Al Akhbar, Al Ahram and Al Gomhouria, President Abdel Fatah El Sisi stated that there would be a reshuffle of the governors and possibly the ministers in January, prior to the upcoming parliamentary elections, to ensure the fulfilment of the nation's aspirations. El Sisi added that despite the pressing nature of the issues that the government was facing, including the economic and security situations and the rising threat of terrorism in Sinai, the government should exert even more effort to tackle outstanding matters. On a related note, Sisi commissioned two committees to review the cases of the students, recently detained on charges of rioting and inciting violence against the security forces. "We encourage university students to speak up, they can say what they want, but without destroying the universities or using violence, otherwise how can we attract tourism or investment in Egypt?" the President said. Thousands of students were detained and tried over charges of inciting violence and violating the protest law since the ouster of Muhammed Morsi in 2013, following frequent clashes between students and security forces on various university campuses. El Sisi affirmed that the insurgency in Sinai was coming to an end, as major military operations have been taking place in Sinai for the past 25 days in order to restore stability. He added that the plan to create a buffer zone on the Egyptian-Gaza border was being implemented on schedule.
