EGYPT'S fencers dominated the Mediterranean Championships which took place in the coastal city of Alexandria. The under-14 prodigies collected a total of 11 medals: four gold, two silver and five bronze. The victory came on the heels of winning the junior Arab fencing championships which was also hosted in Egypt and where Egyptians also dominated. The new board of directors at the fencing federation thus proved right when they decided to develop the sport starting from the junior level going up. The competition in Alex saw 18 events being held for cadets and junior boys and girls in the epee and foil disciplines.
