Horoscopes: Face Amshir with gusto

Horoscopes:
Face Amshir with gusto
By Imhotep
Grounded isn't the term to describe you right now, my dear Sea Goats, as people born under the Cardinal Earth sign of Capricorn (22 Dec -22 Jan) are sometimes called. Your instincts are saying one thing -- stay put. However, the realities on the ground point to a change of course. Climate change is bound to influence your mood. Cheer yourself up with positive thoughts.
Warmer days will have a soothing effect. Windy and tempestuous days will prove a trifle more difficult.
Remember to eat in an appropriate manner. You will be tempted to binge in the weeks ahead. Especially so towards the end of winter, as the vagaries of the weather take on a changeable and an unsettled nature. February, which roughly coincides with the Coptic month of Amshir, the most unpredictable month of the Coptic calendar, bodes ill for gluttons.
However, the first day of Amshir -- this year it falls on Thursday 8 February, is an especially propitious day for Sea Goats. Take advantage of it and dine out, or throw a party. Watch yourself, however, if you start eating to comfort other, more emotional needs.
And, don't drink excessively either. Gulping down gallons of water will do you no good. Schedule a date with yourself as soon as possible. Read a best-selling book or heart-warming novel, go for long walks or to the cinema and relax. Try breathing exercises.
Face up to the challenges of Amshir. It is your call, my dear Sea Goats. Imhotep forecasts heated debates aimed at resolving frightful rows.
Abandon hype in Amshir, my dear Water Bearers, as people born under the Fixed Air sign of Aquarius (23 Jan-19 Feb) are sometimes called. In Egypt, Amshir is the month of howling winds and sand storms. It is therefore named after the Ancient Egyptian god of winds, Mechir. It is also the month which signals the end of winter and sunny spells will quell your inclination to whine with the winds my dear Water Bearers.
Amshir, the Egyptians say, comes in tens -- 10 hot days, followed by 10 cold days or vice versa, or 10 windy days, preceded by 10 pleasant days with clear skies. Water Bearers would do well to keep in mind the Arabic saying: Amshir abul-zawabib al-kathir, ya'khudh al-agouza we yatir, Amshir the father of many winds takes the old woman and flies off.
Fear not. Don't worry, my dear Water Bearers, Imhotep predicts that Water Bearers will be flying places in mid- February, that is the first few days of Amshir. Water Bearers will be flying places both in the literal and metaphorical sense. And, aged female Water Bearers need not fear the powers of Mechir, Lord of the Winds.
Are you getting warmer or colder on the romantic and temperamental fronts, my dear Dolphins, as people born under the Mutable Water sign of Pisces (20 Feb -21 Mar) are sometimes called. Amshir 2007 calls for calm nerves as far as Pisceans are concerned. Debates heat up as the climate changes. Hold your tongue and watch what you say. Indeed, the Stars say it's best to let things percolate a bit before taking action.
You are beautiful dreamers and incurable romantics, my dear Dolphins. However, you have also got the gumption to take action and follow through in the weeks ahead. It is the kind of blustery energy that is custom-made for all sorts of adventures and excitement in Amshir.
Note that 14 February, Saint Valentine's Day, will prove to be of great symbolic significance for Dolphins. What most people consider normal, even desirable, will seem ridiculously quaint to you. Let us face it: you are more advanced in your ideas that most, my dear Dolphins. View this as proof that you have moved beyond old certainties and staid standards.
Go along with the gusty winds of Amshir.
Look out next week for Imhotep's reading of Aries, Taurus and Gemini
