Egypt won the girls singles title at the fifth Zain Bahrain ITF (International Tennis Federation) junior tennis championships (Grade 5) at Bahrain Tennis Club in Juffair from 4-9 November. Promising player Habiba Shaker, No 611 in the world ranking, won the gold medal in the singles event. In the final match, Shaker beat Cyprus's Eliza Omirou 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. Egyptian Lamis Abdel-Aziz took bronze after beating Omirou 6-0, 6-0 in the semi-final. In doubles, Egyptian duo Lalia Al-Nemr and Habiba Lashen won silver after beating Cypriot Maria Stylianou and Indian Sanjana Sudhir 7-5, 7-5. Shaker and Abdel-Aziz took bronze after defeating the Ukrainian Xeniya Prokopchuk and Belarusian Alina Zubkova 6-3, 7-5.
