For only the second time in Egyptian history, an Egyptian, Ahmed Al-Mohamadi, has won the player of the season award for his European club. The first was Egyptian legend and national team captain Ahmed Hassan who won it with Anderlecht in Belgium and Turkey's Besiktas. Al-Mohamadi will certainly be pleased even more because England's Hull City fans are the ones who chose him in a poll on the official website of the club. Al-Mohamadi received the award just one day after playing the full game in his side's hugely disappointing goalless draw at home against bottom of the league Bristol City. Complacency was the main reason behind the shocking result as Hull City players played with no determination and hunger which allowed the visitors to hang on for a point. Another Egyptian Mohamed Nagi Gedo was back in the starting line-up after returning from injury and lasted for 67 minutes. Gedo did not threaten the goal as much as he would have liked during his time on the pitch as his teammates were not at their best and could not really provide him with chances to score. On the other hand, Al-Mohamadi was one of the top performers for his team yet again which showed why the fans chose him as player of the season. Egyptian No 3 Ahmed Fathi did not see action this week as he watched his side slip to a disappointing draw but at the same time earned one more point as they edge closer to promotion. A win for Hull City next week or a defeat for Watford will all but seal their promotion to the Premier League. Elsewhere in England, Adam Al-Abd watched his side Brighton play their best game of the season as they totally demolished Blackpool in a 6-1 win. Al-Abd's teammates were at their very best as they took another step closer to taking part in the promotion play-offs. Brighton are now in fourth place, four points clear of seventh place which puts them in good position to finish in the top six. A win for them in their next game will seal a place in the play-offs. In Switzerland, Basel coach Murat Yakin decided to put only Al-Nenni in his starting line-up in their game against Thun and start with his star Mohamed Salah on the bench as they warmed up for their big clash in the Europa league against English giants Chelsea. The game ended 2-2 as Basel conceded an equaliser 20 minutes from time to leave with just a point. Al-Nenni had a great game once again in midfield as he dictated the game well and showed great composure on the ball at times. Salah came on in the 67th minute but couldn't score or assist this time though still showed his class with some nice touches and runs. The draw leaves Basel at the top three points clear of Grasshopper. In Italy, there is good news regarding Ahmed Hegazi as he returned to full training with his teammates this week for the first time in six months. Hegazi started light training a month ago and completed his comeback this week by taking part in the team's full training. As for his team Fiorentina, they managed to beat Torino 4-3 at home in a thrilling encounter. It's still unclear if Hegazi will see any action in the remaining weeks of the campaign as his team battles to clinch a place in Europe next season. The win leaves Fiorentina in fourth place just one point behind AC Milan. In the UAE, Egyptian superstar Mohamed Abu Treika played the full game as Banni Yas played an entertaining 3-3 draw with Ajman. Treika wasn't really at his best as he couldn't score or assist in any of the goals but showed his class with some brilliant passes and through balls. A loss and a draw in Banni Yas' last two games means they slip to third place behind Al Ain and Al Ahly. Arab and African: In France, Moroccan star Younes Belhanda scored a beauty as his side Montpellier suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Lyon. Still in France, Tunisian star Wahbi Khazri scored for Bastia as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Lille at home. Another Tunisian star in the form of Saber Khelifa scored a consolation goal for Evian as they suffered a 3-1 defeat against Nancy away from home. Algerian star Ryad Boudebouz scored the first goal of the game for Sochaux as they drew 2-2 at home against Bordeaux. In England, Benin mega star Stephan Sessegnon scored the only goal of the game as Sunderland took another step closer towards safety when they defeated Everton. In Spain, Moroccan star Youssef El Arabi scored a goal for Granada as they drew 1-1 at home against Real Valladolid. In Turkey, African legend Didier Drogba scored a brace in the space of four minutes as Galatasaray defeated Amr Zaki's former team Elazigspor 3-1.
