Ahmed Al-Mohamadi helped Hull City claim an extremely important victory this week as they defeated a stubborn Huddersfield side away from home. The game ended in a narrow 1-0 victory for the Tigers as Steve Bruce opted to start the game with only one Egyptian in the form of Al-Mohamadi out of our three Egyptian stars. Surprisingly, fan favourite Gedo didn't even come on and watched the whole game from the bench with his fellow Egyptian Ahmed Fathi. Once again, Al-Mohamadi had a very good game on the right flank as he continuously attacked the full back and delivered plenty of inviting crosses throughout the 90 minutes. Reports indicated that Bruce opted to rest Gedo and go with fresh legs as the Egyptian goal machine played with the national team just four days prior to Hull City's game. The win ensured that Hull City stayed in second place, four points behind league leaders Cardiff City. The first two teams from the championship will be promoted automatically to the Premier League without taking part in the playoffs while teams from third to sixth will take part in the playoffs with the winner following the first two teams to the Premier League. Elsewhere in England, Adam Al-Abd's Brighton managed to stay in the top six despite conceding a very, very late equaliser against fifth place Nottingham Forest away from home. Al-Abd missed the game which ended in a 2-2 draw through suspension for the second game in a row after collecting 10 yellow cards this season. Unfortunately, Brighton's defence which looked really impressive in recent games conceded an equaliser in the 94th minute that denied the team what could have been an extremely valuable three points in the race for promotion. Seventh placed Leicester City is just one point behind Brighton after that draw while Nottingham Forest stayed one point ahead of Brighton in the fifth place. The next game for Brighton which will be against Charlton Athletic at home will see the Egyptian rock making his comeback after serving the two game suspension imposed on him. In the UAE, the return of Mohamed Abu Treika could not prevent Banni Yas from slipping to a frustrating defeat at the hands of El Nasr 2-1 away from home in the league. The Egyptian legend made his much awaited comeback from his long-term injury in that game but looked a little bit off pace after playing the full game for Egypt against Zimbabwe four days earlier. However, Treika still managed to supply his teammates and Senghor in specific with several key passes that went begging due to hesitation and lack of composure in front of goal. Banni Yas' coach Chovanec claimed after the game that even though Treika clearly looked tired towards the end of the game, he kept him on the field because everyone knows the Egyptian legend can create something out of nothing at any point in the game even when not fully fit. The defeat meant Banni Yas stayed in third place in the league table. In Italy, Ahmed Hegazi's Fiorentina suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Cagliari 2-1 away from home. The young Egyptian star is very close to making his return from a horrific knee injury as he is progressing really well according to the club's doctor. The doctor added that Hegazi could be back in full training in one month if no setbacks happen in the coming weeks. The Viola or Fiorentina stayed fourth after the defeat. In Portugal, young Egyptian sensation Ahmed Hassan” Kouka” scored a consolation goal for his team Rio Ave in their embarrassing defeat against Benfica 6-1 away from home. The young striker who left the African Youth Championship after the group stages to play the game was back in scoring fashion but unfortunately the very well taken header meant nothing as Benfica totally demolished his team throughout the 90 minutes. Rio Ave slipped to seventh place in the league table after the defeat. In Switzerland, Basel and its two Egyptian stars Mohamed Salah and Al-Nenni will face Luzern later this week as they will try to widen the gap between them and second place Grasshoppers who slipped to a very surprising defeat away from home at the hands of Thun. Basel is currently top of the league on just goal difference but they now have the chance to go three points clear with a win against Luzern. Arab and African: In England, Ivorian star Arouna Kone scored a priceless goal for Wigan as they defeated Norwich 1-0 at home to get out of the drop zone. Another Ivorian star was the star of the show as Arsenal defeated Reading 4-1 with Gervinho scoring one and assisting two. Still in England, Yaya Toure scored a goal for Man City as they defeated Newcastle by four goals to win, with the African player of the year scoring the fourth thanks to a heavy deflection from Newcastle's Pearch. In France, once again Ivory Coast starred as Salomon Kalou scored the first goal of the game as Lille managed to beat Brest away from home. In Turkey, former African player of the year and fan favourite Dider Drogba played an amazing game and assisted the first goal for his side Galatasaray as they defeated Istanbul BB 2-0.
