Friday is Mother's Day in Egypt, a tradition initiated in 1956 by Ali Amin, the founder of Al-Akhbar newspaper.
Those celebrating the occasion are invited to present their mother with a print out of Al-Ahram newspaper's front page from the day she was born.
Al-Ahram Centre for Management and Information Technology has preserved every front page since the first edition in 5 August 1876.
One-hundred and thirty-eight years of Al-Ahram issues are available to download electronically from the centre'swebsiteor from the centre's microfilm library for LE5.50.
