Ghana players wary of playing Egypt in Cairo
Ghana Captain Asamoah Gyan says his teammates are very concerned about playing Egypt in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers playoff in Cairo due to security reasons following their first-leg win

Ghana Captain Asamoah Gyan revealed Thursday that he and his teammates in the Black Stars national team squad are afraid of traveling to Cairo to face Egypt in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers in November because of security concerns.
Egypt is scheduled to host Ghana 19 November in Cairo in the second leg of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. The first leg in Ghana finished with a 6-1 win for the Black Stars.
"Most of the guys talk to me about playing the second leg in Cairo in front of the fans and are scared about the happenings in that country," Gyan told Kumasi-based Angel FM.
Earlier this month, the Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) demanded FIFA move the second-leg outside Egypt due to the country's ongoing security difficulties. FIFA has given Egypt until 28 October to provide "comprehensive security assurances" for the match.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) informed the world governing body FIFA that they are ready to host and secure Ghana when they arrive in Cairo to face the Pharaohs for the 2014 World Cup qualifier playoff.
Egypt's Ministry of Defence has given the green light for 30,000 supporters to attend the second-leg of the World Cup qualifying playoff against Ghana.
"Don't forget that most of the players follow what is going on in Egypt and are abreast with every incident ... because life is very precious," he added.
"We are in talks with the authorities in charge to see what decision is finally taken with respect to the venue of the match, so hopefully by next week will all know where the game will be played.
"We need to protect our lives as footballers, so if Cairo is picked as the venue then they would have to provide very tight security for us because we all know what the situation is in Egypt now.
"Not to say that we can't play; we are ready to play at any venue against any opposition. But as I said, our lives are more important." the Ghana star concluded.
Egypt's dream of reaching the World Cup for the first time since 1990 is almost out of sight after the heavy defeat in Ghana. The Egyptian team will be seeking a win in the second-leg to boost millions of Egyptians who were shocked by the resounding defeat and dismayed at losing their World Cup dream.
