Ghana skipper Gyan praises Waris after Egypt victory Black Stars captain hails new partner Waris after Tuesday's resounding World Cup qualifiers victory over Egypt's Pharaohs
Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan has hailed his partner at the Black Stars frontline, Abdul Majeed Waris, expecting that the Spartak Moscow player will have a bright future. Ghana thrashed Egypt's Pharaohs 6-1 in their World Cup playoff first leg in Kumasi Tuesday. Gyan scored twice and Waris netted a third goal to contribute to the large win, pushing Ghana closer to a third successive World Cup appearance. "Playing with Waris is good for me. He understands me and I also understand his play," Gyan was quoted as saying by Ghanasoccernet. "He is a very talented young player who always listens to what I tell him and he does just that," he added. The 22-year-old Waris scored in all three home matches for the Black Stars in the qualifiers. Gyan added: "We have played together months, but everyone can see that the understanding is there. He has a bright future ahead of him." The Pharaohs are scheduled to host Ghana 19 November and need a five-goal margin victory to maintain their hopes of reaching the 2014 World Cup.
