Appiah hopes Ghana will maintain fine goal-scoring run against Egypt The Black Stars have maintained an average of 3 goals per match during the qualifiers
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah praised his team's killer instinct, saying he hopes the players can maintain their superb goal-scoring run when they host Egypt in the first leg of the World Cup qualifying playoff on Tuesday. The Black Stars scored 18 goals during six matches in the group stage with an average of three goals per game, conceding only three. "I am delighted and hope we find many goals in our next match while ensuring our discipline at the back. We have let in three goals though we could have done better. But we must keep our balance and improve. We meet a good side but must cause them problems to get what we plan for," Appiah told the Ghana FA official website. Appiah does not have a goal-scoring machine at his disposal but most of Ghana's players have already demonstrated their predatory instincts in front of goal. Eleven players scored for Ghana during the qualifiers and nine of them will be available against Egypt. Asamoah Gyan, Majeed Waris, Jordan Ayew, Sulley Muntari, Jerry Akaminko, Mubarak Wakaso, Christian Atsu, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Kwadwo Asamoah were all on target during the qualifiers. "It's very pleasing to have every player contributing a goal or more. It shows that the Black Stars can get goals from any player, from defence, midfield or attack," Appiah added. "The group has ability in terms of goal-scoring wise. And that is good for us because we are not reliant on any particular player."
