"Maintenance will be performed on a hydrocracker, and two of the refinery's 460,000 barrels-a-day desulfurisation units," said Asaad Al-Saad, acting chairman of Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC). "The hydrocracker will be offline for 40 days and the desulfurisation units for about four weeks", Al-Saad added. Reduced operations will make less diesel and fuel oil available for export. KNPC also started work on a crude unit at the Mina Abdulla Refinery, he said. "The maintenance will cut processing capacity by 80,000 barrels per day to 190,000 barrels per day over the next four weeks", Bloomberg reported Al-Saad saying.
