Court orders ex-Egypt PM Nazif retrial over licence plate corruption Egypt's former prime minister Ahmed Nazif to face retrial over LE92 million licence plate contract
Cairo Criminal Court has ordered the retrialof former prime minister Ahmed Nazif on corruption charges. Nazif was accused in April 2011 of awarding a LE92 million contract for the manufacture of licence plates to a German firmwithout putting it up for public tender as stipulated by law. Former interior minister Habib El-Adly and former finance minister Youssef Boutros-Ghali are being retried over the same matter. In the original trial Nazif received a one-year suspended sentence. The retrial was ordered after El-Adly appealed the verdict in the first trial.
