Ivory Coast crush Gambia, Tunisia draw with Sierra Leone in World Cup qualifiers Ivory Coast beat Gambia, Angola and Tunisia draw with Senegal and Sierra Leone respectively in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on Saturday
Ivory Coast have edged closer to a place in the World Cup qualifying playoff after securing a 3-0 away victory over Gambia on Saturday. Lacina Traore put the Elephants ahead after 12 minutes and Bony Wilfried doubled their advantage two minutes past the hour mark. Midfielder Yaya Toure added the third in stoppage time to give Ivory Coast a comfortable win. Ivory Coast are on top of Group C with 10 points, four over second-placed Tanzania who face Morocco later on Saturday. Elsewhere, Tunisia came from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw at Sierra Leone and maintain their position on top of Group B. Kaiansu Kamara put Sierra Leone in front on 39 minutes but Oussama Darragi brought Tunisia level 10 minutes after the restart. Alhassan Kamara restored the hosts' lead in the 72nd minute but Fakhreddine Ben Youssef secured a share of spoils with a 90-minute strike. Tunisia have 10 points, five clear of second-placed Sierra Leone with two matches remaining. In Group J, Senegal maintained their slender one-point advantage over Uganda following a 1-1 draw with Angola. In Group E, Gabon failed to narrow a six-point gap with leaders Congo after both sides played out a goalless draw. The winners of the ten groups will advance to a two-leg playoff that will determine Africa's five representatives at next year's World Cup in Brazil.
