Egypt's Ahly celebrates the return of skipper Ghaly Veteran midfielder Ghaly returns to action to boost the Red Devils after being sideline for 5 months
Getting skipper Hossam Ghaly back onto the football field is the most important event during the team's recent trip to Sudan, says Ahly Assistant Coach Ahmed Ayoub. For the first time in five months Ghaly returns to action as the Cairo giants beat Merreikh 2-0 in a friendly dedicated to Ahly chairman, Gamal El-Waly on Friday. "Ghaly's return to action is the most important thing we achieved in Sudan," Ayoub said after the match. "The technical staff was eager to test him and we hope he will be a great addition to the club and the national team in the coming period," he added. The 31-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur, Ghaly, underwent surgery in Germany after sustaining a rupture in his anterior knee ligament during the 2-1 win over Sanfrecce Hiroshima in a Club World Cup in December. Defending champions, Ahly, who had already secured passage to the Egyptian league's decisive phase, are currently on top of group A with 36 points.
