Ahly captain, defender Hossam Ghaly is confirmed to miss the Reds' squad for the African Champions League. “Ghaly will not be registered continentally as his rehabilitation will take a long time,” the African Champions manager Hossam EL-Badry was quoted as saying on the club's official website. The 31-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur has undergone a surgery in Germany after sustaining a rupture in his anterior knee ligament during his side's 2-1 win over Sanfrecce Hiroshima in a Club World Cup last month. Ghaly's injury came as a blow, not only for his club, but also for Egypt's national team, which is currently bracing for a 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe next march. Abdel-Zaher joins trainings During Tuesday morning training session, Ahly players have warmly welcomed their new teammate, striker Ahmed Abdel-Zaher who has just moved from ENPPI. The joint top scorer of the Egyptian Premier League in the 2010-11 season with 13 goals, also made few appearances with Egypt's senior team under former manager Hassan Shehata.
