Reprint of Age of Hyenas by Arabic Booker nominee El-Ashmawy
Age of Hyenas, the first novel by Judge El-Ashmawy who was shortlisted for the Arabic Booker prize, has been reprinted

The novel Zaman Al-Diba' (The Age of Hyenas) by the Arabic Booker shortlisted writer, Ashraf El-Ashmawy, has just been republished by Al-Dar Al-Masriah Allubnania.
The novel is the first by El-Ashmawy and was released two years ago.
The author recounts the years before the Arab Spring revolutions, with his writing style inspring famous animal fables book, Kalila and Dimna (Panchatantra).
El-Ashmawy is an Egyptian appeal court judge and a writer. He has published three novels, Zaman Al-Diba' (The Age of Hyenas) 2010, Toya 2012 and AlMorshed (The Guide) 2013, in addition to book documenting the most infamous thefts of Egyptian antiquities: LegalThefts: Stories of Thefts of Egyptian Antiquities, Their Smuggling and Attempts to Recover Them.
Ashraf El-Ashmawy, was also the judge assigned to preside over a case that caused a high-profile diplomatic crisis, where some NGO employees were detained by the then-ruling military for allegedly accepting illegal foreign funding and operating illegally in the country.
