'We can conquer Africa', says Ghana coach Black Stars assistant coach says Ghana can win 2013 African Cup of Nations, hopes injuries won't damage prospects
Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has said the Black Stars can win the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa. “We pray nobody picks up an injury that prevents him from being part of the games,” Konadu was quoted as saying by Ghanasoccernet on Thursday. "We believe that if all the boys are fit, their level of readiness is unbelievable. So we just pray that nobody picks up any serious injuries,” he added. Ghana are one of the most successful African teams, having won four CAN titles in 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982. They are three titles behind the tournament's record winners, Egypt. “If everything goes well and according to plan, we don't see how the Black Stars can't qualify from the group stage. “We have done our part. As a team we need the entire nation and everybody to pray for us because we know that with a little bit of luck, we can conquer Africa,” he concluded. The Black Stars are in Group B alongside DR Congo, Mali and Niger. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at@AO Sportsand on Facebook atAhramOnlineSports)
